The village of Trefin is situated approximately eight miles from the famous city of St.David’s, which boasts being the smallest city in the UK (due to having a very large old cathedral). Trefin is surrounded by lovely countryside and is approximately four hundred metres from the famous Pembrokeshire coastal path, which is a Mecca for walkers and sight seers from all over the world, tourism in this part of the UK is quite diverse, and not reliant on glorious sunny weather. Surfers and canoeists flock to the area in droves to take advantage of the fantastic beaches, walkers and hikers come all year round to walk the coast path, boaters also come to enjoy the many delights the area has to offer, a new 540 berth mariner, to be built by the Anglesey boat company, has been given the go ahead at Fishguard, first phase to be complete by 2010, this will attract more investment and more tourists. Trefin would be an ideal village base, as it lies midway between Fishguard and St.David’s.
Trefin has a public house/restaurant a cafe and various galleries, the local harbour, Abercastle, is just one mile away, the local beach approximately 200metres outside the main village. This is an area that attracts celebrities to live, there are two famous ones living within our community and another in a neighbouring village.
Ireland is also just a step away, as there are several ferry links close by and also an airport at Haverfordwest.
There are lots of beaches to choose from some easy to get to and others not so easy, making them a bit more secluded, activities in the area include, walking, hiking, coasteering, rock climbing, boating (go and see the local dolphins porpoise and seals), surfing, canoeing, leisure centres, fishing –both sea and course- diving, water ski-ing wakeboarding, kite surfing, horse riding and probably coming soon, an off road driving facility. As you can imagine lots of these activities are great whatever the weather. Schools
There are local pre and primary schools, plus, primary and high schools in Fishguard, St.David’s and Haverfordwest, with school buses to the local schools, the high school in St.David’s and Pembrokeshire college in Haverfordwest.
